Data itself has a sense of beauty, visual data is an art. In the age of big data, data visualization, as an important development direction, enables us to view the world from another perspective. It is well known that human's visual cognitive ability is limited. Although it seems rich and has a "sense of art", the overlapping and connected data in the middle often makes the graphics become complex and difficult to understand. There has always been a deep connection between art and data visualization. With the exponential growth of data and the maturity of technology, on the one hand, users put forward higher and higher requirements for the aesthetic standard of visualization. On the other hand, artists and designers can use more and more creative ways to present data, making visualization more impactful.

The hottest technologies of the moment have been applied to games, real estate, education and other industries. It can be predicted that data visualization can also create interesting sparks with these technologies, such as bringing more real sensory experience and more realistic interaction methods, so that users can completely "immerse" themselves in the data. We try to imagine, when we can go to watch with 360 ᵒ all-round perspective, control, touch these data, the impact of natural than face only one by one with the cold number of histogram. In the near future, the sense of touch, smell and even taste may become the way we perceive data and information.

The art design of data visualization is to transform the collected or simulated data into recognizable graphic symbols, images, video or animations through effective editing, and present them in a visual form to realize the most valuable information transmission to the audience. The "edit" mainly for visual design of two application category, interpreted and explore type: the former narrative help users identify with visual art design information and their relations, and create the corresponding data interpretation in visual form or information and communication, the latter by would be visualized as a design tool for the audience to their own decision-making after the data analysis and mining. The art design of data visualization has not only gradually become a hot research direction in the fields of data journalism, information visualization and scientific visualization, but also the features and process specifications of its communication content, design form and technology realization have become increasingly obvious. This paper aims to study the significance, influence and new challenges of contemporary data visualization design from the three aspects of data-driven narrative communication, data visualization art design and data visualization aesthetics.

Firstly, the work effectively conveys practical information through the form of visual representation and regards visualization as the method of expressing interesting paradigm. Secondly, all the visual elements of the work have been carefully designed and typesetting, full of a sense of design; Thirdly, it reflects the unity of subjectivity and objectivity and the full combination of truth and beauty. The final goal of visual art design is not only to reveal the law or structure of information and data itself, but also to create artistic works with aesthetic taste by using visual technology. Beautiful visualization can reflect the quality of the data described, and explicitly reveal the inherent and implicit attributes and relations in the source data. Visual implication is one of the core aesthetic features of visual art design. The study of visual aesthetics has been widely studied in the field of artists and theory. Research in this new field has been focused from the very beginning on the symbolism of data, the visual representation of the overall meaning of visual data.
