The development status and trend of visual data journalism in China


Netease's "number reading" slogan is: speak with data, provide lightweight reading experience. It can be said that the core and fundamental part of data journalism production is data. Netease "number reading" column itself is set up under the portal website, with good technical support and interactive platform by nature. Open the page of "digital reading", from the first article in 2012 to the recently updated data news, all opened the discussion, as long as the user registered netease account, can comment in the news below. In addition, the sharing function is opened below each comment. Users can freely share the news and current comments in the space of yixin (an instant messaging software jointly developed by netease and China telecom), sina weibo and QQ, expanding the communication channels of news.

In addition to the news that can be seen on the official netease page, in order to adapt to the transfer of users from PC to mobile terminal, netease "digital reading" has opened three platforms, namely sina weibo, WeChat public account and netease APP subscription number. Sina weibo mainly reproduces the news on the web page in full text, with short text description, combined with the function of forwarding and commenting, which can attract more netizens to participate. WeChat official account in addition to the full text reproduced on the page of news, combined with WeChat special function, opened a H5 feature, the data news feature produced by HTML5. Different from the positioning of hard news on the page, most soft news in the H5 project is reported with Flash images, which is highly readable and observable. On the subscription number of netease APP, netizens can also subscribe to the column of "digital reading" to read news and interact with comments. Netease, a comprehensive attack mode of PC terminal combined with mobile terminal, opens the news communication channel, increases user stickiness through the interaction between Internet users and between Internet users and news editors, and provides the direction for the future improvement of "digital reading" column.
